In Whom Do We Trust?
My Lord, I pray that we take our eyes off of man, his words and actions and place our full trust in You. Your word says : Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. (Proverbs 21:2 NKJV)
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12 NKJV)
Now that many have gotten their undies in a bunch and twist over this USA election, we should ask ourselves In Whom Do We Trust. Are we trusting man or are we trusting God? I personally do not get caught up in politics. Am I for justice? Sure I am but I side with God as my leader. Not President Barack Obama and not Mitt Romney had he won the election instead. People would still find something to be angry and upset about had Romney won and we know it to be true.
Nothing that is going on takes God by surprise so why should it surprise you? People are panicking and stressing all about the economy and issues with morals and values when this is something that has been a part of society since the world became corrupt. Sin stepped in and messed things all up.
Yes we live in a land that’s free and I wonder have we become spoiled. Think about all these third world countries that are still suffering, all the lives that are paying the cost for not siding with their countries beliefs simply because they want justice.
Christians will be persecuted for the sake of belonging to Christ as we already know. The Bible tells us this. Now think for a moment. If we all lived in physical bondage and poverty ,would we still slam authority for putting us in this position regardless if we disagree on religious beliefs since homosexuality and abortion issues are hot topics?
Maybe I’m losing myself in this post a bit but I am frustrated and hurt to see how some people ( saved and unsaved alike )are acting and how they are responding on these social media sites.
As Christians we are called to be the salt and light of the earth. We are ambassadors for Christ. Lets act like it.
How effective are we being as a whole when negative seeds are being planted against our authority with our words? How can we win souls if we are acting just as worldly as those still in darkness? Who wants to be a Christian if they see us so-called righteous folk acting just as foul as they are?
As a side note, look at how easily people can confuse their salvation based on their good works. Sinners can still do good things and have compassionate hearts but they lack the key element that secures their eternity in heaven. Lets stay on the straight and narrow. We are to be examples bearing good fruit not speaking ill words that produce death. Remember that there is power of life and death in the tongue. (Proverbs 18 : 21, 17: 28, James 1 : 26-27, Proverbs 15 : 1-4)
There will always be evil lurking, plotting and carrying out unrighteous plans and as human beings we fall bait to the distractions instead of the bigger plans that belong to The Lord.
A man’s thoughts and actions sway like the ocean. It can change at any given moment. We are not to put our hope in man but in The Lord at ALL times. We are called to pray for the nations. May we truly pray that the lost be found, that those in darkness come into the light, may we earnestly pray for those who speak and do evil whether they realize they are doing it intentionally or not. We are to bless and not curse.
Scripture says:
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord. Therefore If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:17-21 NKJV)
Only God knows the true heart of us all and it is His judgement alone that has the final say. Let us cry out to God for justice, let us cry out to Him for leadership, wisdom and righteousness. Not just the United States of America but all nations.
May all the energy and time put into our opinion written on Facebook and Twitter and such on how bad things are and will get, instead how about us praying and lifting up one another and asking God to show mercy and grace, to open doors that no man can shut, to remove the blinders and deaf ears that they may be restored and to also rid us of self-righteous thinking because though we are not the President or an influential leader over this country, they need prayer and guidance too.We are all individuals who came from the dust of the earth. God made us. We did not make Him and only He has the right to toot His own horn.
God knows what’s going on. Realize that will you. Step aside and let God be God. If we trust Him, then trust Him no matter what is going on in this world. The Lord can change any situation in a blink of an eye if He wanted to.
Remember that we all have fallen short no matter who we are or what position in life we have, we were sinners before being saved by His grace.
These may be the end of the days as the Bible speaks of. Who knows. But ask yourself will you be ready. If circumstances changed so drastically and you had to choose between surviving just to receive daily necessities to live or choose Jesus Christ, do you really know without a shadow of a doubt that you would choose Christ and believe that you would be taken care of because His word tells us so or not? Our mouths say one thing and our actions can say something totally different when faced with choices. Never say what you won’t do because we have prime examples in the Bible of believers who betrayed ( Judas Iscariot ) and denied (Peter) Jesus. Does throwing Him under the bus sound more modernized for you? We throw Him under the bus more than we know when we sin, when we make the wrong decision when we KNOW that it is wrong. We don’t speak up when we are called to all the time because we get caught in people pleasing and trying to win favor with others. Remember that Pilate washed his hands before the multitude as to cleanse his hands of the blood of an innocent man named Jesus. (Matthew 27)
Honestly, no one really knows what a person’s motives really are and why they make the decisions that they do when a history of principles, values and integrity have been a foundation for years except for God Almighty. The best we can do is take a look in the mirror and ask the Lord to show us just how jacked up we are inside before we go passing judgement on someone else’s decisions. We all are in need of help to be fixed and cleaned up. That is why we have Jesus. Only He is pure and His walk is that which we strive to live like.
Be rooted in the Word, have faith and trust in God to provide.
Pray without ceasing and believe that anything is possible with The Lord as our Sovereign leader for He is the Chief of Staff over this entire universe. No one, I say NO ONE can win or take His position ever.
God bless every eye and ear to receive His truth and know with certainty that it comes from above.
This is a very timely posting and it’s time for us to understand that God said these things are to happen before the Son of Man is to return. God bless you for sharing this with all your readers
Amen. And you are welcome for the share with you all. I thank The Lord for speaking to my heart this morning. God bless you.
This is exactly what has been on my mind for weeks. Last night I was shocked at a lot of the stuff I saw on social media sites, everyone was turning on each other in such vicious ways. We should all love one another and treat each other with kindness. All be united under God, praying and trusting in God that who ever is president He will lead them down the right path and help lead our nation back to Him. I really like this post a lot and I can see that you have a kind heart that is full of Jesus’ love. God bless you and thank you for sharing your thoughts.
You are right T. We have to pray and trust that God will lead our president down the right path when it comes to leading this nation. The heart of man can change. Go is forgiving and gracious. Let us cling to our greatest hope which is in Him. This vicious cycle of destruction people are doing to one another is horrendous. Lord help us to have mercy, forgiveness and patience towards each other. Most of all, my love cover a multitude. God bless you too my sister. Take care.
Thank you for sharing this, the voice of reason.
1 Timothy, Chapter 2 tells us to pray for all in leadership.
Welcome and Amen. We all stand in need of prayer.
Thanks for this Terra. Much needed in our country. Prayer is the only thing that can change any situation.
You are so welcome and Amen! Prayer CAN change any situation. God bless you!
Great post! I do think we put way too much faith in politicians, men and women that have repeatedly failed to deliver what they promised. For even the most devout Christian, there’s always a danger of making these politicians into false saviors. After all, regardless of what their slogans are, they’re all promising to be the candidate of “hope and change,” but only Christ is worthy of our hope because He is the only agent of true and lasting change!
Amen and thank you. Christ is our ONLY hope and trust for which is something that we are guaranteed for life. Bless you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and encouragement.
LOVEly & BEAUTIFULLY STATED TERRA… THANK YOU!
I pondered this question this morning, having read & heard just a little of the electoral outcry … “Where were we [Christians] when it was time to raise up a godly man, who would proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord… before the choice to pick between two who potentially wouldn’t?”
I feel so ashamed at myself for falling so miserably short. I believe, at the very least, that it’s time we “Christians” start assuming the responsibility that God bestows to us and be His hands, feet, & HEART [and when necessary, & in Christ-like character… mouth], as He has clearly pronounced for His body. I believe that it starts with each of us, then out to our family, church, community, state, nation… God’s World. To me it is all about focus. If we, like Daniel in the lion’s den, were to fix our eyes on the Lord [the window God gives us as a way of escape], we would all be looking in the right direction. And I think, that if only we [all who call on the name of the Lord], were to ‘Seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness…'[Matthew 6:33]; Listen to actively hear His voice & commands when He speaks and obey what is heard; AND ‘Trust in the Lord with all our hearts, not leaning on our own understanding. In ALL our ways acknowledge Him, and get out of His way that He may make ours straight’ [paraphrased~ Proverbs 3:5&6]… maybe, just maybe, we would all be on the same prayer, at the same time. I think that would so delight [SURPRISE :)] His heart!
Again Terra… THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Thank you sister! I give credit to The Lord for the inspiration and heart to speak on this!
You have spoken well on your thoughts and sharing the truth about God’s written and spoken word. Thank you.
We have all missed the mark on various things The Lord has brought to our attention but we MUST pick ourselves up from the fall, strengthen ourselves in Him and grab a hold onto courage to go out and do what we are called to do! God is speaking to us. We are the children of The Most High! Let us take heed to the call because this is not a game.
You have spoken truth dear sister! We are the Body. We are the mouthpieces, the hands and feet. We are useless vessels if we don’t do anything. It’s time to go go go in the name of The Lord!
Let the battle cry be heard! O Heavenly Father, prepare us, anoint us and guide us as we seek Thy face in prayer so that righteousness will be sought after and anchored, my our light that You have placed in us shine so brightly that those in darkness will draw unto Thee. Let us fall before Your throne of grace humbly with a heart to receive that it may be absorbed as knowledge and wisdom with an abundant overflow to spread out to the world. Bless Your holy Name on high! Praises be for glory unto Thee. Amen.
From your beautiful lips to God’s ears… Thank you Terra for that ‘oh so grace-full’ prayer [& encouragement]. God’s amazing love song surely sings & shines brightly through you. Thank you again! God Bless you!!!
Awww I am humbled by your caring and sweet words. The Lord knows I care deeply and want to see change take place in us all. To encourage others is my gift. I will continue to pour out my all for you and others with all that I have within. It’s for God’s glory. Hallelujah!
And btw, I am so happy to see you on here. It’s been a while but it is great to reunite back. You have a gift of encouraging me and it is well with my soul. I am full of smiles! Thank you! Hugs!!!
Terra, my goodness. This is so powerful. I re posted this on my Facebook page. You are absolutely right. Many many people are focused on the wrong thing(s). I may be a bit of a pessimist here, but I just don’t see us turning our country or our lives around. This really struck a chord with me: “Our mouths say one thing and our actions can say something totally different when faced with choices. Never say what you won’t do because we have prime examples in the Bible of believers who betrayed ( Judas Iscariot ) and denied (Peter) Jesus. Does throwing Him under the bus sound more modernized for you?” You are spot on. I hope you’re right, and I hope people will heed what you say. If not, I think we’re headed further down the path to destruction, tyranny and persecution like we have never seen before. God bless you, and it is wonderful to see and read your words of truth and conviction again Thank you for posting.
Thank you Steven for sharing this to your Facebook page. I can understand how you may be pessimistic looking at how this world looks and act but I can only be optimistic because I know our God is more than capable of turning things around if He sees fit. Things do not look hopeful but we know The Lord can give us peace in the middle of any storm. God bless you dear brother! Keep steadfast in faith and the ministry as I will too! Love and blessings to you in Christ Jesus!
Thank you, my precious Sister in Christ. It is always uplifting to hear from you. May God richly bless you today.
You are so welcome! You have been nothing but kind towards me! God bless you richly just as much! You are wonderful!
Thank you
Anytime. 🙂
Wonderful post Terra. It’s like these words were on the tip of my tongue and the Lord used you to express them in such an eloquent way! Ohhh so much to say, but it deeply upset me to witness some of my own friends and believers lose themselves over this election. Whether boasting or bashing, cursing to “make a point”, or down right being insulting, it saddened me so much to see numerous people feel more conviction regarding their political views than in their relationship with our incredible, wonderful, and ALMIGHTY Father! I remain encouraged in Him and trust Him with all! These are the verses I’ve been meditating on…
Hebrews 10:38-39 (AMP)
38 But the just shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of faith and conjoined with it]; and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him.
39 But our way is not that of those who draw back to eternal misery (perdition) and are utterly destroyed, but we are of those who believe [who cleave to and trust in and rely on God through Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by faith preserve the soul.
God bless you my beautiful sister!
Patricia
Oh thank you so much Patricia! All credit I give to The Lord. I am just a vessel willing to pour out my heart! Bless His name. I truly know how you feel in witnessing the words in the things people have said and written.
My Lord…. Help us all.
Keep being encouraged and TRUSTING in our God my dear sister because I will. There is no one concrete we can put out trust and hope in BUT HIM.
Let us continue to pray and lift this nation up. Much love to you my sister in The Lord. Hugs!
