In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
There’s nothing that I can think of that’s better than this. While I am a tea lover and it sits so well with me and my quiet time before or after my family leaves for school and work…. I need Jesus. I simply need Him to get my day started.
My beginning thoughts prep my day. Doesn’t yours?
Jesus himself on many occasions got up early to go pray. He proclaimed the Word of God to the people, he healed the sick and done many miraculous things but he still took time away to pray. He gave The Father the firstfruits of the day. If He done it so should we. (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, 6:12 are a few examples)
Mark 1:35-38 NKJV
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.”
As we should, we wake up saying our prayers and thanking the good Lord for blessing us to see another day as well as asking for forgiveness for whatever it may be we still need Him. We still are in desperate need of His presence when we arise.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. It’s easy to fall into our robotic ways of easing into our day but the question I pose to myself and to you is “Am I giving Him my first fruits? Am I choosing the better part?”
Now don’t get me wrong! I’m not implying that we can’t have our morning cup of coffee (or tea) as we indulge in our time of devotional and Bible reading at the same time but have you ever thought about allowing His presence to soak deep within your being giving you strength and that invigorating shower of mercy and grace that falls fresh like rain when you arise first?
That kind of brew and jolt of amazing energy I have gained from being in His presence outdoes what I thought I could attain after having had my soothing and relaxing cup of tea.
He’s my cup of comfort that brings peace and settles my anxious thoughts about the new day that is set before me.
As I reflect and gaze upon the picture above that I had my daughter take early one morning this week as we headed into town I fell in awe of just how awesome God is. The Creator of heaven and earth blessed and breathed in me one more time. Seeing the sun rise in the astounding beauty that it holds, it let me know that no matter what the road ahead may look like He’s still in control. With that said I can continue to go forward because my God, your God is already there. Isn’t that wonderful? Oh yes it is.
Thank you Jesus for being there when I rise. My life and my thoughts are yours. Lead me into each and every given day that’s given to me. Bless me so that I may bless others. My Rock and my Fortress I just want to say Thank You. Amen.
Dear hearts, I pray this New Year that we choose the better part and better beginnings and endings to our days. However it is that the Lord leads you, follow Him. If the Holy Spirit is nudging your heart to get up earlier than you normally do, I encourage you to do so. I’ve learned along the way that the Lord wants to talk. We just never know what it is that He has to say. We may never know the importance of the early rise unless we are willing to get up. Just a tid bit of information I thought to share with you. God bless you….
