Made to Crave: Praise the Lord

I was made to praise Him. I crave to praise Him even when my flesh doesn’t want to.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The world is forever changing but God remains the same. I wasn’t sure how life was going to be after my Mom passed away. May 3rd it will be the 1yr anniversary of her going home to the Lord. I can say that I’m still grieving and yet relieved that I’m not in a deep pit of  emotional pain because I have my God to hold on to when the wave of emotions hit me.
I honestly can’t say where’d I be if I hadn’t had the Lord by my side. I don’t know how anyone makes it without Him. Not just during the good times but definitely through the bad.

“Lord help us to seek Your face. Help us to crave the praise that you are worthy of receiving.

Some days I feel like a thread unraveling all the while trying to keep it together thinking on the positive. To think of Jesus and the message of the Cross it’s as if I can see and feel the fibers of my being connecting again. They are broken and busted. Just loose. Heaviness from the weight of affliction has caused me to feel and think that it’s hard to get my life back together. Some of those thoughts are mine and I believe the enemy plays a part in trying to keep me suppressed.

Have you ever felt that way? Is this a season you are currently experiencing? Know that you are not alone. Jesus knows our pain more than anyone. Knowing this I take heart because I know that He is faithful and true and I believe that He will see us through our valleys. (the keyword is through) He saw me through the worse pain I have yet to see and experience. And what seems kinda weird is that when I left my hometown after 2wks to go back to my own home is that I couldn’t wait to get back to my church… to be amongst the saints in corporate worship praising God. I sought God whilst I was home caring for my mother in the hospital, praying for her daily, reading her the Word while she was awake and sleeping and singing praises to Him. Even in the mist of the unknown and unforeseen I craved to praise Him. I did so not just to have Him hear my prayers and answer them but simply because He’s God.

Over the course of a year I’ve cried much, laughed often and sat in remembrance of many things. I’m still here. I made it! God was with me and he still is. My eyes well up with tears right now. It’s that joy that the world can’t steal from me. The Lord has still been faithful and has not left me when the nights become hard but oh I can rise up and praise Him because sweet joy has come in the morning! Life happens. We can’t stop it but we have an assurance to make it day to day with Him if we just lean into his arms and allow him to do what he does best.

I’ve made it (I still am) and I know you can too. Don’t give up on Him. Continue to seek to praise and glorify the Name that’s above all names. Stay hungry. Crave praise and watch what happens.

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Faith Persevering in Trial

“I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness In the great assembly; Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O LORD, You Yourself know. I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth From the great assembly. Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me! Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who seek to destroy my life; Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor Who wish me evil. Let them be confounded because of their shame, Who say to me, “Aha, aha!” Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, “The LORD be magnified!” But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.”

Nothing Else Matters

When we look over our lives and the things we have attained……Nothing else matters.

wp-1490884297363.jpg

Success of having a house, the glorious career, increase in wealth, college degrees, where you stand amongst your colleagues, and peers, spouse and children do not matter if you don’t have Jesus. The same applies even when we have less or not at all.

Above all else having Christ Jesus is the greatest, most treasured and valuable asset you could ever have in your life and He should matter the most. What we attain beyond having Him are just additional blessings.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Colossians 1:15‭-‬18 NKJV

We live here on this side of heaven temporarily. It’s not our permanent dwelling nor the treasures that we store up and collect here on Earth. Do we truly realize the importance of how we place people and possessions in relation to our lives? Greatest to the least.

It’s something to think about and process. Dare I say that the order of what we think is most important in our lives should be switched around? Indeed I do.

Believe me when I say that I love my husband and children and all that the Lord has given me but I am nothing without Him. All mankind will perish (unless you’re swept up when He comes back) and every treasure rotted out or forgotten but our relationship with the One who saved us from perishing is eternal.

How wonderful that is to know and live out. Our hope, faith, joy and fulfillment is found in God alone. It does not matter how much we try to build, grasp, achieve and succeed at if He is not the center of it all. Every hole that’s empty we will always try to fill up to make us feel better and bring a sense of completion and yet we are not ever full. This is how we humans are. Never full, never satisfied UNTIL we come into realization that we have it all, we have EVERYTHING we could ever need once we place the King of kings and the Lord of lords first and foremost in our lives.

May today’s thoughts and God’s truths speak volumes into your life. Ask Him to help you prioritize the order of your living for you cannot fail. What you will be is full, satisfied and successful in Him. Stay in the Holy Word, prayed up, extending a helping hand and loving others all of your breathing days.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. II Corinthians 9:8 NKJV

Nothing Else Matters But Jesus

Lawful Yet Not Profitable

Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims. You know the old saying, “First you eat to live, and then you live to eat”? Well, it may be true that the body is only a temporary thing, but that’s no excuse for stuffing your body with food, or indulging it with sex. Since the Master honors you with a body, honor him with your body! God honored the Master’s body by raising it from the grave. He’ll treat yours with the same resurrection power. Until that time, remember that your bodies are created with the same dignity as the Master’s body. You wouldn’t take the Master’s body off to a whorehouse, would you? I should hope not. 1 Corinthians 6:12‭-‬15 MSG

If this isn’t a motivational, in your face truth, far from being sugar-coated, love-you-with-all-my-heart set of life giving words inspired by the Father then I don’t know what is.
Wow.

The daily devotional I am reading called Soul Detox can be found on YouVersion if you care to take a look at it. While I normally read in the NKJV,  I do like to read what other versions say. The Message version above can’t get any more simple to understand.

The Apostle Paul writes that everything is permissible for him but not helpful or profitable. Let’s put it this way. Just because something is made available to us it doesn’t mean that it’s for us. The Lord will not be down our throats every second saying “yay or nay ” or “Hmm…. do you really think you should be eating this or doing that”. We should use wisdom in all that we do. This is a choice that we have. All things are lawful but are not edifying.
We have what’s called God’s “permissible will”. Do we just want to get by with that or are we seeking His perfect will? I personally want to honor the Lord with my body and my thinking. The Bible tells us:For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior–one who manipulates]. He says to you, “Eat and drink,” Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost]. Proverbs  23:7 AMP

Today I implore you to count the cost. For whatever it may be realize that there is a consequence behind it. I thank the Holy Spirit for placing this word upon my heart to share with you. I pray that you take it into account. My heart is for you and your well-being in Christ as it is for myself to live a life that’s pleasing and honorable before the Lord.

Be encouraged, blessed and stay  prayed up as you go into you day. Allow the Lord to order your steps. Invite the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you in all that you think, say and do.

I love you but Jesus loves you more. He wants the best for you. ❤

Life Withers and Issues Fade Except The Word of God

The Lord is Everywhere

I Peter 1:22-25 NKJV

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Do we recognize that God is everywhere and in all things? He is the Creator of heaven and earth and all things in it.

This morning when I was reading a devotional plan that I follow on YouVersion called “Now Is The Time: Acts Adult Journey” today’s devotional sat a little deep with me today. It really gave me a lot to think about.

Do our words and actions seem fit for the Holy One that surrounds us? The scripture for this Bible reading was Acts chapter 7. (Stephen was stoned to death for speaking truth.) At the end of the reading a reflection and respond was posed:

REFLECT :

Where do you think God dwells? In church buildings or in the whole universe—including the places where you live, labor, or enjoy leisure? Can we feel God’s presence everywhere? Can we be faithful anywhere?

RESPOND:

Ask God to help you acknowledge him wherever you are, and to be faithful to him. In four different places today, thank God that it is his space—God’s Personal Space (GPS). You do not need to close your eyes to tell him. Take a moment to share this divine experience with others!

Gracious God, thank you that my family, friends, and I are all in your personal space. Please help me to know your personal presence – your GPS – as did Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, Stephen and so many other men and women.

While I was beginning to feel some kind of way as my morning progressed I went outside to pull weeds. ( I tend do a lot of thinking outdoors for various reasons and to also capture a pic of a butterfly if possible ) Anyways, I walked up the driveway to clean out another flower bed and noticed an overgrown lawn since the neighbors moved out. The real estate company has not been by to maintain the grass. I digress.

The pretty yellow and tall standing dandelions setting against the sky……..

Amazing

Breathtaking

GOD IS IN EVERYTHING.

His presence surrounds me and I’m feeling it in this very moment. It washes away the thoughts of things bothering me. Loving that sibling in the Lord that’s hard to love, putting another kid through college this coming fall as well as accepting the fact that my nest of 5 children will go down to 3, the heartache I bear of knowing that my very best friend lost her mother over the weekend and the list goes on and on.

“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

Life changes in some shape or form but God never does and neither does His Word. I can take hold of that and stand firm because it’s true. If I love and trust the Lord with all my heart and all my soul and all my mind and all my strength then I can follow through accordingly with all things. He’s there with me.

He’s present. Right here with me. And you.

Dear friends,  do you feel the presence of the Lord here with you today? Just take a look around and see Him. He’s there. How worthy He is to acknowledge and spend time with. God bless each and every heart this day.  I pray that you are encouraged today in some way. I know that I am.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord , my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
