Road Prayers Are Not Just For You

Just when you thought your road prayers were all about you and your needs…the Lord had you praying for others you passed along the way.

Now isn’t that just like us to be selfish? Me me and more me.

But then isn’t it just like God to turn our focus and direction towards someone else who’s standing in the need of prayer?

It sure is and I thank Him for it.

While we are encouraged to take our concerns, worries, fears, things we need to get off of our chest to the Lord and lay them at His feet, he desires for us to pray for others too.

It’s not all about me and it’s not all about you.

The Lord laid a road prayer heavily upon me one day as I was driving along casting my cares upon Him. I went from praying about my circumstances to praying and interceding for those I passed on both sides of the road.

Now in society we can be good for griping about slow traffic, someone doing this ,that or the other and fail to look at the blessings. Example: having a vehicle to drive, safety that the Lord has brought you from point A to point B thus far. Many other things to be thankful for that I can name but I’d like for you to start thinking of some yourself to see what you come up with.

The Lord Almighty flooded my heart and my mind as I drove along. It blew me away. My stresses and concerns didn’t seem so big once I started praying for others that are driving. We may never know where they are going but it’s reassuring to know that we can take our prayers to the Father about them with hopes that they will get answered.

Whether it’s rushing to the hospital, contemplating suicide, trying to make it to work before getting written up one more time, trying to stay awake on the road from working that second job to support their family or even just….. trying to figure out where they belong they ALL need Jesus. Someone is standing in the need of prayer. Someone may be seeking Truth and Peace in the middle of chaos. Someone needs to see that there is a Light in their darkness.

Salvation is available to all. The prayer line to God is always available. This road is accessible and free of traffic jams.

Jesus tells us: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 NKJV

So while it may seem easier to just think about ourselves in the moment, may we take a look at our surroundings and begin to wonder what’s going on in the life of the vehicle next to, in front of, behind and those traveling in the opposite direction of yourself. Ask the Lord to show you what He sees and to give you a heart for those in your path.

Prayer changes many things and it just might save someone’s life. Just think about it. Every time a person confesses their sins and receives salvation the angels rejoice. Now that’s grand to me! When I think about the impact prayers makes in the life of another and just not myself my spirit begins to catch fire with hope and joy because of the Living God who is able to do exceedingly more than I could imagine.

I just thank the Father for turning my one lane road prayers from myself to that of multiple lanes praying for others. I may not ever know what impact my prayers had or will ever have in the life of another road driver (biker, walker) but I do know that my God does and that’s quite alright with me.

Hoping to shed a little light from my heart to yours. I give credit where it’s due and it all belongs to the Lord. I thank the Holy Spirit for being ever present and helping me and giving guidance when I couldn’t see.

Be blessed, be a blessing and be encouraged today in Christ Jesus,

Terra
