Are You Feeling Squeezed? Sin, Worldly Living, and the Narrow Gate

20130618-072319.jpg
Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:34-36 NKJV)

Our “ticket” to heaven or hell is given by God himself. There are no “get-by” passes or a friend standing at the pearly gates “hooking you up” to live in comfort and leisure up in heaven when you leave this earth while you have not done a self check and most importantly given your life to Christ for the sake of receiving salvation and forgiveness from He who is our Lord and Savior. It’s not that kind of party. God does not operate like that.

We choose the route we want to take in life. As well, we choose to do either right or wrong. The decision is ours. Scripture tells us “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV)

I need to be squeezed. Don’t you?

Often I find myself asking of the Lord in regards to reproof and correction. I surely am not one who is perfect and I claim to not be perfect though I am made perfect in Him. We all have sinned and continue to sin in some sort whether in word, thought or action consciously and subconsciously. I want to know the error of my ways so that I can change. I want to be forgiven of my sins. I want to be made over daily.

I NEED TO BE SQUEEZED.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV)

Many succumb to the ways of the world without fighting for what right. It’s easier to pleasure and please man because we don’t want to hurt their feelings or because we want to fit in rather than stand out for God who has been nothing but good and merciful toward us, who loves us without conditions and who gave us a way out and a way in that we may be washed, cleansed and approved to be united with Him forever where no more tears and sorrow shall reign in eternal glory in heaven. As believers and followers of Christ we are not called to life a life of such. We are not to conform to the ways of the world. (Romans 12:2)

We were made to stand out. We were made to let our light shine for the world to see. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (I Peter 2:9 NKJV)

Unfortunately this place we live in is full of evil and lust. Temptation is always knocking at our door. Will we answer?

Not one of us came into this world without sin so I pray we don’t walk around as if we have never done wrong. God knows all and sees all. He’s merciful and forgiving. He’s loving and patient. This is how we should also be towards others who have committed sin who are in the Body of Christ as well as the sinner who has not turned from his ways and who has yet to receive Christ into their life. The Word tells us:
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16 KJV)

Are you feeling the squeeze yet? I’m not here to condemn one soul but I will not shy away from the truth. I will not accept what God says is wicked and abominable in this world and the ways of it so if I have to walk it alone to be seen as righteous and holy before The One who holds my life in His hands then I will. Temporary pain in this life is far from comparison to the eternal joy I will have in my Fathers kingdom.

I pray this for you too dear Reader. Fight the good fight and don’t give in. You can do it and come out victorious in Christ Jesus. He is our strength, shield, deliverer, protector and provider. Nothing is too mighty for God to do. Amen? Amen!

“Thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit for being my path and light. I thank You for being my all and leading me in truth. May I cling to Your truths and convictions and lead a life that’s pleasing and honoring. You work as one but in unity giving leadership to all who will receive. Praises I sing on high for You are worthy my God to be praised! In Jesus name I pray. Amen”

Preach the Word

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (II Timothy 4:1-4 NKJV)

Pathway to Purpose: Remember Lot’s Wife? If You Do, Don’t Look Back

In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. (Luke 17:31-33 KJV)

Thinking back about Lot’s wife is kind of scary in a sense. What if God chose to show us He meant business if we seen someone turn into a pillar of salt right before our very own eyes? Would that get your attention?!!

If you have the time, please go back and read Genesis 19:1-26. This scripture talks about what lead up to Lot’s wife turning into a pillar of salt.

Following The Lord isn’t always easy. To give up and deny self, part ways with unequally yoked people, to live a life that’s holy and righteous and pleasing to our Creator can be hard at first as a new believer and even difficult as times as a “seasoned” Christian because we will be taken out and away from our comfort zone.

There is always a good reason for it when we choose the way of The Lord.

We are to walk in light. Not darkness. We are to turn away from our old sinful nature of thinking and living and clothe ourselves kingdom-minded in thought, word and deed.

When God shows mercy and gifts us with grace from situations that could harm us mentally and/or physically, why do we choose to look back?

What are we missing from the past?

It ought to be nothing simply because Father knows best. He knows the outcome of everything. I mean EVERYTHING.

There is a pathway that leads to life and one that leads to destruction. Life is in Christ, death is in the world. I choose the pathway of life. I pray you do as well.

Christ said : “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV)

There are many types of temptations to indulge in whether its mentally, verbally or physically. Perhaps all three. You will also be faced with difficulties when it comes to the heart. An example such as being left out/ being an outcast to your own family and friends who are not believers nor followers of our Lord and Savior is one of many.

You still love them and want to be in union but it does not mean that you do whatever is necessary to stay in the circle; the clique. This is not good and it is not right.

As followers of Christ Jesus we were made and set apart. We are not to conform to the ways of the world. We are to be holy because He is holy.

God has plans for you. Remember that. Recall what He said in the Book of Jeremiah……

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) * this is one of my favorite scriptures I hold close to my heart.

Hold tight to this word of truth; this promise from God that He cannot go back on.

Just to share a bit of my own journey, there have been recent occasions when The Lord has asked me to do certain things and there have been times that He has told me what to do just as well. Have they been easy. Yes and no. Why? Because some things required me to step out of my comfort zone, some were tender spots because my heart was going to be affected and I knew it was not going to feel good at all. Did I follow through? Yes. ( well I slow poked a couple of times and took some detours but my way was revoked so I did it the right way! And if you are wondering if I am hardheaded the answer is Yes too. I’m not proud of it but I am learning to submit more and more to His will in uncomfortable territory.)

I wanted to do His will and I knew in part that my obedience would plant fruit bearing seeds BUT MY FLESH; my human side, did not want to feel the pain of feeling left out like an outcast, I did not want discord to strike me across the back like a whip simply because I chose Jesus. I CHOSE the better path.

Dear Reader, as I have shared my own experience in part with you I am encouraging you to still keep faith in The Lord and in the calling you have on your life. If you have yet to know what your calling is I encourage you to keep pressing on in your walk; your intimate and personal relationship walk with Christ.

Everyone will not understand and many will not want to accept it. But take heart because our God will bring people into your life who will understand and accept. He will provide. He will open doors and bless you beyond measure! Just wait and see!

Your act of obedience goes farther than what the human brain can conceive. We never know the ultimate purpose and plan behind God’s ways. We can only trust Him with the outcome whether we see it in this life or not.

The seeds we plant may be for someone’s own good. Salvation and freedom may be just around the corner for a lost soul. A desperate heart in need of a true Friend and Comforter will soon be found.

It’s not all about us…..

Pathway to Purpose. Do not look back. Your life and that of others could depend on it.

God bless you and keep you as you move forward on your journey until you reach your permanent destination called Heaven.

Home Sweet Home.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalms 16:11 NKJV)

Recycled Sin: Has it become a trend to the point that we are accepting it as truth??

Are you wondering what Recycled Sin means? Take a look at the pictures below. See if you can figure it out before reading the rest of the post.

20120724-183916.jpg

20120724-184107.jpg

Okay so how about this one?

20120724-184313.jpg

So I’m sure you are wondering what I meant by my title Recycled Sin.

Well I will tell you. No sin is new sin. It keeps going and going and going. God is not gasping as He watches us. He knows our very thoughts, words and actions before we commit them whether they are good or bad.

Heaven and Hell is REAL.

Time and time again we take chances. We convince ourselves that if we are good people that we will make it into heaven. Now hear me when I say that I am not judging anyone and I surely have no power to put anyone in heaven or hell BUT my walk with the Lord can be a reflection of how I live my life and where I want to go when I leave this earth.

God is our Judge and He alone will decide where we go for eternity.

Good works will not get any one of us into heaven. If we have not accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, if we have not received salvation…. our decision is taking us to one place or the other.

IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP PEOPLE.

When we know in part, we should live out what we believe. We cannot take the Bible and sugarcoat pieces of it just so that we can still have “the best of both worlds”. This does not cut it with God.

The Bible tells us that we cannot serve two Masters. We will love and serve one or the other. This does not apply only to money as people tend to naturally think about because it’s like a well known slogan especially when and if we do not know God’s word for ourself.

Satan himself knows that God is real yet I can say that he was still dumb enough to try and take God’s position. Before you know it he was given the ole heave-ho into hell along with those who followed him.

Be careful and be not deceived. Satan knows Scriptures just like us. He can take them and twist them to make you believe that what you see, hear, speak and believe is the truth. He lies, he sugarcoats and can get you to believe anything unless you come back at him with the Word of God.

Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11 NKJV)

Let’s take a look at Who could NOT be fooled.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you, and, In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. Jesus said to him, It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God. Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matthew 4:1-11 NKJV)

Whether its lying, adultery, homosexuality, or whatever it is that was spoken by God that is considered as sin, people treat it as if it’s a trend; that it is normal because it has been done for centuries; that it is acceptable as to not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings or that you will not fit in though your mind and heart tells you that you just do want to stand OUT because you know the truth.

So who are we siding with? Do we really care where someone is going for eternity?

I get the pause and cricket syndrome when I ask if a person had salvation before he/she passed away.

Sadly I hate to say that it happens too often. Recently I found out that someone who was supposedly not living a life as a heterosexual passed away. Now whether it was true or not, it is not the big issue because one could be a murderer, rapist, cheater or a pathological liar. If they did not repent of their sins, if they did not receive salvation they likely are not spending eternity in heaven. I say likely because anything can take place in between the last minutes/days of life.

God knows and sees the heart for what’s true and what’s not.

I’m not playing judge and I am not pointing fingers but the Bible tells us clearly what’s true. There is no gray area.

Heaven or Hell. Isn’t that clear enough? Perhaps not for some. I pray that this mindset will become less and less and the fear of where one will be for eternity will kick in.

Where’s the compassion, where’s the love and concern? Are we too wrapped up in pleasing man instead of God? If we love and care the way we say we do then we will speak up.

No coaxing, no sugarcoating, no taking a blind eye and deaf ear to the very things we know are WRONG. Let’s do right by God when conviction sets in our heart. ( if we know the truth )

There is a time and place for everything and a way of handling people and circumstances. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a living example to us all as to how to treat people. He hung out with those we would turn our noses up to or be quick to open our mouths and call them out on their sin, yet without taking a look in the mirror and seeing our own.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23 NKJV)

Does casting stones sound familiar?

So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first. (John 8:7 NKJV)

I encourage you to read this entire chapter being that a portion of it is talking about an adulterous woman who was about to be stoned to death for her sin but Jesus set the record straight.

Living Sacrifices to God

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1, 2 NKJV)

Scriptures to read and meditate on:
Romans 8 ( in its entirety )

Let’s wake up and take life seriously. To appease others can cause a soul to spend eternity in hell. Think about it and act. Remember that we will all be held accountable for our actions. Is pacifying sin worth the cost?

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 NKJV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7 NKJV)

What’s That In Your Mouth?!!

20120319-083435.jpg
Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16 AMP)

Chewing and Digesting

Through my own experiences, though in general, the Word does feed my spirit. Chewing and digesting it ( scripture ) soaks into the innermost being of my spirit. Its not about the quantity of what I read, but the quality; what I am taking from it. There are days when I pray asking God to give me a word for a particular moment that I’m going through or something that’s on my mind as well as just wanting to seek His heart and finding out what it is that he wants to talk to me about.

20120319-084014.jpg

This is vital to my daily living just as keeping healthy and taking my vitamins. God is my spiritual dose of nourishment. His Living Word is what keeps me going. All the strength I work in that’s righteous comes from he and he alone. Seeking Him and his presence means everything in what I say and do. I want to be about my Father’s will. His plans are greater than mine and yours. With this said, I am praying that you too take careful consideration as to the things you consume mentally, physically and spiritually.

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. (James 1:21-25 NKJV)

“Father God, it is your heart that I seek after daily. I need you desperately. Without you I can do nothing. Teach me your ways that I may live accordingly. I pray for my friends and family far and near that they too will seek after you coming thirsty and hungry. Your Son paid it all on the cross. He blood was not shed in vain. Help me to take up my cross daily and to deny the flesh that has no means to edify my growth in you. I continually ask for your mercy and grace. Your infinite wisdom is greater than anyone’s. I’ve asked you for wisdom and you have granted it to me. May I be wise and not foolish in my own thinking; boasting of things I know not is meaningless. Everything meaningful and righteous that proceeds out of my mouth I credit to you. Praises forever will be in my mouth for you alone are worthy of them. Glory hallelujah!!
In Jesus name… Amen”

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5, 6 NKJV)
