Just Look Up

Even if we are walking in the valley, Lord you are there. if we are perplexed in our mind we need to only be still. let us listen for the soft voice beckoning us to the reason of truth.

Bless you Lord.

May we acknowledge that You are Truth and our guiding Light. Our heart and minds can become so polluted with doubt and anxiety. Let us look above and receive in Jesus’ name.

Solid Foundation: Who’s Building Your House?

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV)

No other ground I know to stand on that will not sink is Christ. He is the Solid Rock, the Cornerstone, the great Foundation that were are able to affix ourselves to without falling if we so choose. Choosing our own paths may provide a temporary fix but we will ultimately be back at square one. Choosing the wrong foundation will have us stressed out, angry, confused, bitter and perhaps even destructive towards ourselves and others.

There is no peace. No true peace and contentment when we are our own guide, builder and god. We cannot always blame others or Satan for things not working out.

Is it ever taken into account that things may be going wrong for a reason? Maybe God closed a door for your own good or it could even be that its just not the right time.

Questions.
Are we attempting to solve things in our own thinking? Are we speeding up the process because we cannot wait on God and His timing? Do we feel that God has not given us the answer(s) that we want?

Let’s pause and think about that shall we….

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV)

We should not continue to keep doing things in our own thinking and understanding when we do nothing but fail time and time again in the end. We cannot work in our own strength when we will eventually grow weary in doing so.

The Bible is our manual for life. It should not be pulled out and used like cake for special occasions catering to the quick fix “God I need You real quick, so can I get some help?” type of meal. God isn’t fast food.

Instead, it is our Daily Bread. Jesus is our daily bread. The Word will feed us, nourish us, provide peace, give us joy, hope, comfort, healing, understanding and correction along the way. To have righteous living and to be holy we need to align our ways with His. God is love. He is our eternal Word that sustains us through all circumstances.

Who is your Builder? Self or Christ?

Life will bring ups and downs. We cannot avoid them. What can take place is an unsurpassable peace residing within us that Christ himself provides. We will not become consumed with doubt and fear or filled with anxiety if we are standing on the Solid Foundation that keeps us from falling or sinking.

May we look to God at all times rather than when it accommodates us.

Our Lord will not fail us. He can not error. His building codes have been tested and founded to be true and stamped with approval.

Who wouldn’t want a lifetime guarantee?

The Lord’s Provision

Good day to you one and all in the name of Christ Jesus our risen Lord and Savior! I come to you dear brethren to remind you to stand firm and unshakable for our very lives have been accounted for. Each day His provision has been made before you awake every morning.

Delight yourself in the company of the One who sustains you through every storm. Do not fear todays journey. He has gone before you to prepare the way. All you have to do is walk in it.

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalms 118:6 NKJV)

Let no worry or fear beset you. Scripture tells us: What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 ESV). 

It does not matter who tries to come against you. Remember that God has your back. It does not matter what evil plot or snare that the enemy attempts to succeed at, remember also that God has your back.

KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU BELONG TO!!!

You will be equipped, strengthened and comforted as you proceed. The Comforter ( The Holy Spirit ) will be your Help and your guide to see you to the end.

This mission will not always be smooth. There will be bumps and unforeseen roadblocks along the way. The Deceiver (Satan) will try to get you to abort your mission through discouragement, lies and false truths. DO NOT fall into this trap.

Go in faith believing that the Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. (Psalm 119:105 NKJV)

SCRIPTURE: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 KJV)

FAITH has a wide spread base to effectually bring about change in your life if you hold fast to it.

Allow me to share with you my own challenges and sufferings wrapped up in a short form if you will. Over the last month I have been going through some changes and challenges spiritually, emotionally and physically. It has not been comfortable at all.

I remember one late night/early in the morning encounter with the Lord. I found myself repeatedly speaking a set of words as I woke up. Getting up frequently through the night is nothing out the norm for me but this was different. It was something I had not experienced in a while. In my heart, I knew it was biblical but it was something I could not recall reading before. Perhaps I did and it never surfaced as a means of how it affected my life, especially at the current time.

“Speak of things that are not as though they are.”

While I was speaking this set of words/scripture in my head and with my mouth in what seemed to be a different translation/tongue, I finally found what I was looking for in the Bible with the help of Google and the YouVersion Bible app on my phone after praying and the countless times of trying to remember word for word what I said when I was awake for good. (do you see why I need to just get up and write when something comes to me right away?!!)

As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed–the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. (Romans 4:17 NIV84)

While this particular scripture in Romans is about Abraham, it also is applied in context to how this world came to be. In Genesis, God SPOKE things into existence. He BELIEVED in what He said so therefore it came to pass.

I encourage you to read the story about Abraham and Sarah if you are not familiar with it. ( Abram and Sarai were their names before God changed them.) While I seen this story in a way I had never seen it before, it applied to my life in such a way that it blew my mind. I was beside myself! What an inheritance we have people!

Glory to God! Wow. This may turn into a part 2 but I may try to wrap it up in this one. We will see.

Just to let you know, I have some injury to my shoulder. I believe I initially dislocated it and I heard it pop back into place but I eventually went to the ER to get checked out. I have something going on with my rotator cup. This has been a very painful ordeal to go through. Sleepless nights and hours of being uncomfortable and somewhat frustrated on top of dealing with other things in my life. I really wondered how much more could I take in general before I found myself isolating myself.

Isolation is something I have a hard time dealing with. Now I am not speaking it as if it’s a permanent fixture in my life, but it has been something that has been like a thorn in my side. I can say that I have gotten better with how I deal with matters more than what I use to. Thank you Jesus.

Let me tell you…. I am far from perfect but through my own challenges and storms, I can testify to God’s goodness and His promises. His word is bond. It cannot go out void. Believe me.

Through this season I face, I know the hand of the Lord rest upon me. In moments of uncertainty, I had to put the word of God to use. It had to be spoken with faith and applied with action. Needless to say, here I am. Back doing the mission set out before me. God gave me this gift of exhortation. How can I sit back and not use it? How dare I not trust in Whom can deliver us all from the hand of evil, from the multitude of thoughts that perplex us on a daily basis, the snares laid out to capture, condemn and kill us from living a life thriving and full in Christ Jesus?

We are not promised to have all good days while we live this temporary life here on earth but may our outlook on life and our trust in the Lord be steadfast and immovable. May we find peace in the middle of trouble, rejoice in hardships knowing that in our weaknesses we are made strong for our God is mighty to save. He is our refuge.

With all of this said and thought about even when I felt like I had no one to encourage me, I had no one to reach out to because I started to lose trust in others as well as feeling like I have been nothing more than a pit stop for a dose of encouragement, God provided. I had to rebuke the negative thoughts and lies, separate truth from false, allow the light of the Lord to shine in where I wanted the wounds to be covered and healed in my way and my timing.

As always, my way never pans out. Fighting with thoughts and ways will lead to destruction.

God’s ways stand the test of time. It always has and always will. Forever.

The trip to my prayer closet has been effectual. My fervent prayers for you all, myself and my family has been well with my soul. That of which I labored had not been in vain. Separating myself for the sake of being in communion with the Lord to get myself back on track paid off and will continue to as long as I stay before Him.

Speak life into yourselves dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. Encourage yourself in Jesus. Stay in the Word and allow it to minister to you. Pray without ceasing. Find fellowship with those like-minded whose heart is for you. In due season, the storm will pass and the rainbow will appear.

*My mission was being walked out though I felt as if I was still on the Potter’s wheel. I may still be on the wheel. I’m just not resisting the uncomfortable feeling of being reshaped once again in my life.

There is purpose for every good and perfect way of the Lord when it comes to refining His children. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what best.

The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand. (Psalm 37:23, 24 NIV)

Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16 NKJV)

Final Exhortation

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:4-9 NIV)

Being transparent is not easy but I will set aside my thoughts and ways in hope that you all will find an inkling of encouragement in the Lord. It has been my hearts desire to see lives lived, loved, encouraged and changed in the Lord. We may never meet on this side of life but we will fellowship for eternity in glory.

God bless each set of eyes to see and ears to hear. May your hearts receive the mission plan the Lord designed for you before your life came to be, even before the creation of the world.

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalm 121:1-8 NKJV)

Trust in the Lord dear brethren for our God is not dead. He’s surely alive living inside of you even if you feel and think as if he is not near. He is! Emotions will get the best of us. Stand on the Word and don’t behave as if you don’t know how powerful and majestic the Great I AM is.

Do not put trust in your emotions. They come and go as the waves in the ocean; up and down. The Bible tells us:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5 NKJV)

Call on Him. Blow your trumpet and let your aid be made known! You need him more than anyone. Some days may grow long and weary and seem as if the light at the end of the tunnel may never shine, but I’m here to tell you that HELP is on the way. Be patient and wait on the Lord. His timing is never too early or too late. He comes right on time! TRUST and BELIEVE that you will be rescued.

Psalm 121 has personally been one of my favorite scriptures that I have embedded in my heart and trusted in since I gave my life to Christ years ago. He IS my help in times of trouble. I look UP and CALL on him because I KNOW HE is able to come through for me when I let my basket of cares be made known.

Friends, whatever it is that you are in need of, it would behoove you to let it go and give it to God. Trust that his hand is already at work. Plead your case and leave it at the alter. Amidst waiting for your rescue, count it joy as your wait with patience. The Lord is doing a great thing on the inside of you.

Feeding the Multitude

THIS COULD BE ANY ONE OF US……………….. NEVER SAY NEVER.

Typically this is not like me to write a random post without the leading of the Holy Spirit but then again, this could be such doing and my emotions and compassion for the lost, broken, and hungry have stepped forward in a bold moment. This message in regards to Feeding the Multitude applies to those who need physical nourishment as well as spiritual. We are called to go out and tend to them. The widows, the orphans, the sick and all. Believe me when I say that I am speaking to myself as well as you because we all need to pitch in and help. We are instructed to do this in an act of obedience and love.

The Outworking of Love

“By this we know love, because He laid down his life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” ( 1John 3:16-18 NKJV )

I could easily throw up a Thanksgiving Day picture fully decorated with all the delighful looking food and happy people, but I choose not to. The foundation of this celebration is about giving thanks to the Lord for all that He has done, bringing people together in fellowship and enjoying a meal. At least that is what I think it is. This is what I have learnt over the years as an adult. I didn’t grow up knowing that I was to give thanks unto the Lord and being grateful for my family and friends. It was just food cooked out of TRADITION. We ate and went our way year after year in my eyes and opinion. I am not, in no way throwing my parents under the bus so to speak. Maybe they didn’t know any better, but it wasn’t until I married that I learned the true meaning. It took some getting used to. ( and I still have a hard time getting in the swing of festivities believe it or not for that very reason ) Ok. Enough digressing. Back to getting on track with what I was saying.

Jesus is calling us out to go boldly in His name to preach the Gospel to the world and to take care of those in need. This place we live in isn’t getting any better and more lives are being lost daily. People are becoming more and more selfish by the minute. Where is the love? Where is the compassion? Do you really think it is good enough to look at the television or newspaper, the man standing on the corner, reading the “junk mail” that asks you to consider sponsoring a needy child over in another country, to drive past a food bank or shelter and say “Lord bless their hearts and provide for them” and so forth? NO. It’s not good enough.

Many of us can honestly say that we are blessed enough financially that we have a roof over our heads, a job, clothing on our back, good health, a good and sound mind to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, but how about the ones who can’t. Do we just rely on the state to take care of them? How about the volunteers willing to give their time willingly to help those who have less than? The answer should be NO. Who is looking out for their spiritual health at the same time? I am sure that some of them are richly blessed in spirit more so than some of us. They may not have a dime in their pocket but their hearts are rich in faith. That is something to think about.

I am not trying to convict anyone at all and if I have offended you, please forgive me, but realize that any given day your life could go from being on top to hitting rock bottom. Then what?? You will be that very same person that the world turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to. We reap what we sow. Now it’s up to you what you can give whether it’s financially or spiritually but being a bench warmer isn’t going to get it. It’s time to get proactive. Not just during the holiday seasons but during every day life.

This painful post is because I was sitting down eating dinner and my eyes began to well up with tears because of a story I read. A man lost everything and is now living under a bridge. Wife left him, he’s without a job and a home. But he was thankful for whatever food the shelter/ sponsoring businesses that rallied together to feed and clothe the homeless supplied. What caught my attention more than anything was that despite his situation, he was willing to share the Gospel with anyone willing to listen to him. In the mean time, he is holding on looking for that day to come when he can get back on his feet.

That’s HOPE.

Prayerfully, I want the Lord to direct my footsteps in the direction He wants me to go to in ministering to the lost. I can say that I know that I know that I KNOW that He is preparing me for something greater in my ministry. It’s all about Christ. Living who I strive to be in Him and taking care of those less fortunate however it may be. To God be the glory. May I be stripped of anything that is not pleasing to Him so that I may live a righteous life through him and be an example to those living in darkness.

Dear friends, I am not asking you to do a thing except pray and ask the Lord to direct your thoughts and footsteps. Think for a minute if you would and try to imagine yourself in the shoes of a sinner without repentance and salvation as well as the homeless person without. You can think back to the lost sinner you once were before Christ came into your life? Can you just imagine how you could live if you didn’t have the basic needs?

This is just Food for Thought.

Standing In the Gap

Dear Lord,

Someone is in need of Your presence right now. I don’t know who I’m praying for but my heart and spirit is calling me to intercede on their behalf…. to stand in the gap. I cry out to You to come rescue them in their time of need. Cover them with Your love, be a hedge of protection around them, The Rock, The Fortress, a place of refuge, the mother, father, sister, brother, the friend, Comforter, their everything that they need to make it through.

Hear my plea O Lord for tears are present. Hurt, pain and grief has struck their soul, doubting and wondering how they will make it. Most Holy One, I know you can make a way out of no way. Let them know that You are with them. Your presence is near. You have not forsaken them. I plead the blood of the Lamb, I rebuke those negative spirits. They have no choice but to flee in the name of Jesus.

Thank You for hearing my prayers. My love is with those who seek You even if they are unaware that they need to call on You. Bless them and keep them safe in Your arms. Peace be still. This storm soon shall pass. In Your everlasting Name I pray. Amen.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26 NIV)
