From Thy Lips…..

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. (Proverbs 13:3 NKJV)

Words.

Words have the power to build up or tear down.

Words.

Words have the power to give hope, radiate light and to heal. They also have the power to hurt, breakdown, kill and destroy.

We as a people have a choice to plant seeds of life or death. This is a daily choice. There is no in between. Excuses of saying “Oh I was just kidding” or “You are just overly sensitive” doesn’t cut it.

Do not get me wrong because I am no one to point fingers. I am no saint. I have hurt people unintentionally along this life of mine. No one is perfect. It is our job to choose words carefully. This is done over time with consistency to try and speak in love even if it is in truth.

As parents, we are role models to our children. As adults we can be influential just as well towards one another.

Will it be for the good or for the bad?

Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. (Psalm 34:12, 13 NKJV)

Yesterday and today marked another day of life being taken away and another of being brought into the world. What type of impact have we contributed to society?

I went to bed last night mourning and woke up still mourning over a child I never met yet I stand in hope that peace and comfort will be found in the lives of those who loved the deceased.

My daughter who is 12 yrs old came home in tears yesterday to tell me that a classmate who was bullied committed suicide. He hung himself. It was by WORDS that smothered his heart and mind while trying to fight a battle of evil that he succumbed to death. He could not overcome the pain anymore. Assumptions that he was gay went around in talk when he was not what others claimed him to be.

Gossip leads to destruction if it is not stopped.

Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:37, 38 NKJV)

This young man would have turned 13 yrs old next week, his birth mother was coming back into his life and he was trying to learn more about the Lord from what I was told. Life has stopped in his mortal body. The Bible he carried and read in his backpack will not be used any longer. By him that is. I pray that someone else will take the Holy Word and put it to use. It is our manual for holy living. It is our comfort and daily help, it is our guide and armor to use against evil and the dark principalities of this world.

Help.

When will we begin to take life more seriously? When will we start becoming more selfless than selfish? When will we begin to live more like Christ being the hands, feet and mouthpieces?

When will we take a stand for what’s right? When will we take our backs off the wall and stop being cowards? If we love people and seek righteousness then it is time to live it out even if it means losing people in our lives who do not agree with what the Bible teaches us.

Lets not wait until a situation hits close to home before we move or speak out. Tomorrow isn’t promised to you or to myself. In all things said and done, may it be centered around The Lord and prayed about. We have been given common sense as well so we ought to use it.

We will be held accountable on judgement day. How will we answer?

May our words be for edifying rather than tearing down. There is enough cruelty in the world, enough history to reflect upon to hopefully want to make a change. Satan can care less about any of us. He’s about stealing, killing and destroying and will use anything or anyone to accomplish his plans.

God bless those all around the world suffering. Whether its in body or in mind, I pray that we as His children will become more proactive in lip service. Someone’s life can be changed for the better.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

 

Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones But Words Will Never Hurt Me

I’m going to make this post short (I hope) and to the point. If the picture above is huge, it’s because I am blogging from my iPhone and my mind is somewhat scattered.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”

Well that’s a lie!

In the book of James, chapter 3 talks about taming the tongue. We can speak blessings out of it towards God but curse man with it just as well. This is so wrong. There is power of life and death in this little member of our body that we have. Who can tame it? Lord help us all.

Well I must say that this week had been a good one for me so far. As the saying goes, today is Freaky Friday/ the freaks come out at night Friday or something along those lines.

Anyway, I typically don’t go out the house too much on Fridays simply because of all the traffic of the weekend starting BUT today was mommy- daughter day and I took my younger girls out to see a movie a few hours ago. In route, I was rudely cut off on the highway almost causing my car and another vehicle to rub sides.

I let it go.

The closer I got to town, a guy waits to pass me and yells out a racial slur with curse words for no reason. Well I’m sure he thinks he had a reason but there was no justification for his ignorance.

I let it go though I chose to yell back “God bless you!” and then I said a quick prayer for him. ( I was in a convertible so that’s the only reason why I yelled. I could have kept my mouth closed all together but I wanted to speak life into the atmosphere. I chose to bless the guy instead of lashing back. At the same time, I allowed my girls to see that we should not do tit for tat, indulge in ignorance of foolish talk which could lead to more destructive behavior of the person who started it. You get what I’m saying.

Jesus says: But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, (Matthew 5:44 NKJV)

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For,”Whoever would love life
and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. (1 Peter 3:9, 10 NIV)

* I’m getting to my point of why I’m writing! Just hold on. I’m longwinded and seemingly have to share just about every detail of my story! It’s a habit. Sorry!

As I was walking towards the theatre I thought about this whole sticks and stones bit. Yes my feelings were hurt because of the racial remarks and that my children had to hear it but at the same time I felt worse for the guy who said it. He’s lost. He doesn’t know Christ and I can only pray that he does not cross paths with another person who may not handle him the same way.

I also thought about how we as Christians are and will be persecuted many times over and some even killed simply because we believe in Jesus and serve him. (martyrdom)
Whether we suffer various things based upon race, creed, prejudice, envy or what have you, we clearly need to be prepared for worse. We will suffer because of Who we belong to. This world just keeps getting more and more ugly. We must be careful in what we say and how we treat others. There is enough evil being done amongst one another in general. We need not throw fuel to the flame.

May we stand out and make a difference. We are called to be the salt of the earth. We have been chosen and transformed. May we not fall into the pit of trying to repay evil back with words or action. Vengeance belongs to the Lord.

Ultimately may we reflect and remember that worse was done to Christ. It was more than sticks and stones, the beatings, the lashings, the crown of thorns and mocking, the blood, the tears, the spit and piercing in his side that crucified him. It was our sin that nailed him to the cross. He could have stopped it all yet he endured just for us to have a chance to be set free. He led by example.

May we do the same.

Our Final Victory

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?

The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:51-58 NKJV)

God bless each and every heart that loves the Lord and strives daily to be like him. I encourage you to put on your Amor of God ( Ephesians 6:10-18 ) daily and to go out knowing that the victory has already been won!

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalm 121:1-8 NKJV)

Trust in the Lord dear brethren for our God is not dead. He’s surely alive living inside of you even if you feel and think as if he is not near. He is! Emotions will get the best of us. Stand on the Word and don’t behave as if you don’t know how powerful and majestic the Great I AM is.

Do not put trust in your emotions. They come and go as the waves in the ocean; up and down. The Bible tells us:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5 NKJV)

Call on Him. Blow your trumpet and let your aid be made known! You need him more than anyone. Some days may grow long and weary and seem as if the light at the end of the tunnel may never shine, but I’m here to tell you that HELP is on the way. Be patient and wait on the Lord. His timing is never too early or too late. He comes right on time! TRUST and BELIEVE that you will be rescued.

Psalm 121 has personally been one of my favorite scriptures that I have embedded in my heart and trusted in since I gave my life to Christ years ago. He IS my help in times of trouble. I look UP and CALL on him because I KNOW HE is able to come through for me when I let my basket of cares be made known.

Friends, whatever it is that you are in need of, it would behoove you to let it go and give it to God. Trust that his hand is already at work. Plead your case and leave it at the alter. Amidst waiting for your rescue, count it joy as your wait with patience. The Lord is doing a great thing on the inside of you.

GOD IS ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS BUT FAIL.

Keep On Prayin’!

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12 NKJV)

If you only knew the joy that cease not within me when I pray for you my brothers and sisters in the Lord! Boasting is not what aim for or what I am doing, but it is to keep one another lifted up and encouraged in the Lord! There is power in numbers as we lift up our voices to the Almighty asking for his presence to be manifested in this life we journey. May the blind see, the deaf hear and those without a voice speak up! O, that healing in the mind, body and soul take place. Let our bones shut up with fire; that consuming furnace of eternal bliss, stir up a bountiful worship and praise of righteousness and joy to persevere in all things we set our hearts and minds to do in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!!

Seek to gain the spiritual wisdom, knowledge, discernment of the King. Loose the shackles that bind you from only thinking of yourselves. Pick up the phone, send an email or text or even pay a visit to your fellow brethren letting them know they are thought of! Extend a smile and hug if possible! Prayers and encouragement plays a vital role. We are mighty, we are victorious, we are conquerors, we are bold and courageous in THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER WARRIORS STEP OUT!

Authority has been given! Use it. Success has been done! Jesus paved the way! Walk in it with assurance and faith!

Let your fruit bear witness to everything you do for the sake of the Kingdom! Step out and see how good the Lord is when we love thy neighbor as he loves us! Ask for His love to radiate through you that it may shine into the life of others. There’s no particular way. God made you and knows you better than anyone. He knows the treasures that are deep inside of you. May his anointing fall fresh. Use your gifts and let the joy of the Lord be an invigorating scent of perfume drawing all men to believe that better days are ahead.

Fear: Taking Center Stage with Christ…… Don’t Give Satan a Footstool and a Microphone

For a few minutes I sat in silence shedding tears over the unknown and then started to feel some anxiety due to my concern and fear about a mammogram test I have to retake. I realize that I can’t just TALK the talk, I have to WALK it as well. I know God has me in His hands and I shouldn’t fret over anything.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

I believe He is allowing storms to come into my life to build me up. My character is developing more and more on a spiritual level. This I know. It’s just taking those storms head on and not giving way to my emotions for I should not let them rule over TRUTH. God’s Word is bond.

I stand on the promises for my life that He has already put in place for me. I refuse to let the enemy use a weakness I have to consume me. No matter what the outcome may be, I know God is with me. Thinking back to a Bible lesson my husband taught recently, the scripture verses apply to what I’m feeling and thinking at this very moment. Thank you Holy Spirit for bringing this back to my mind:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8, 9 NIV)

Thank you Lord for being present in my life, for You provide comfort and truth through Your Word.

17 Unless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in [ the land where there is ] silence. 18 When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up. 19 In the multitude of my [ anxious ] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul! ( Psalm 94:17-19 AMP)

I’m just as human as anyone else and I am wanting to continually learn and grow from my mistakes through my storms. I will never pretend to be someone I’m not. Christ knows we have emotions and as humans, we allow them to overtake us at times. Learning from the storms and being of good courage in Lord through them, will help us to overcome, walk and talk in confidence, trust and truth.

[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction  and  delight. (Philippians 2:13 AMP)

Dear friends, SPEAK the Word of God in and over your lives. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. ( Proverbs 18:21 AMP ) We are given power through Christ and the Word. Use it. Encourage yourself  with it. Don’t let it sit off to the side and be ineffectual. The enemy wants nothing more than to use the negative thoughts you harbor against yourself. Refer back to Philippians 4:8,9. Take back the joy and peace the evil one took from you and stand your ground in Christ.

Be careful what you think, for your thoughts become your words.
Be careful what you say, for your words becomes your actions.
Be careful what you do, for your actions become your habits.
Be careful what becomes habitual, for your habits become your destiny.

” My God, I thank You for sending Your Son down to earth in the form of Man to ultimately  be a sacrifice for our sins that we would have a choice to live in freedom and salvation for eternity. I pray for others who are going through any circumstance at this time ,as it is taking a toll on them, that they would let go and let You take control and guide them into peace. Whether it’s dealing with finances, medical issues, wayward children, marriage, school, people, emotions and the list goes on….. nothing is too hard for You to handle and fix.  No way is greater than Yours O God. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding of worry, fear and distress be mine, be theirs in the name of Jesus. Amen “

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The American Cancer Society ( and all supporting foundations around the world )  I dedicate this to those going through, those who’ve physically won and lost the battle. To the families affected, I pray your strength and support as you travel down this road with them . May you hearts and trust be grounded in the Lord. He can do ANYTHING but fail.
