Be Wise in Speech and Action

From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. (Proverbs 16:23, 24 NLT)

Our words and actions will either make us or break us. This stands to be true because they can affect others.

In the Book of James, scriptures tells us: For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:2-10, 13-18 NKJV)

In today’s world, we need more love. Agape love. We need more wise people living the example Christ Jesus set before us. No we are not perfect. This I know. Christ alone is perfect. He set the example. He lived, walked and talked with wisdom.

This is something we all can benefit from. Our Heavenly Father will give it to us if we ask. Question is what will we do with it if we receive it.

Wisdom
How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver! The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; whoever follows that path is safe. Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. (Proverbs 16:16-18 NLT)

Be wise, be encouraging and be a light of truth, integrity and faith. I pray that your lips may be filled with peaceful and encouraging words and that your heart be full of mercy, love and compassion.

Solid Foundation: Who’s Building Your House?

20130506-095948.jpg

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV)

No other ground I know to stand on that will not sink is Christ. He is the Solid Rock, the Cornerstone, the great Foundation that were are able to affix ourselves to without falling if we so choose. Choosing our own paths may provide a temporary fix but we will ultimately be back at square one. Choosing the wrong foundation will have us stressed out, angry, confused, bitter and perhaps even destructive towards ourselves and others.

There is no peace. No true peace and contentment when we are our own guide, builder and god. We cannot always blame others or Satan for things not working out.

Is it ever taken into account that things may be going wrong for a reason? Maybe God closed a door for your own good or it could even be that its just not the right time.

Questions.
Are we attempting to solve things in our own thinking? Are we speeding up the process because we cannot wait on God and His timing? Do we feel that God has not given us the answer(s) that we want?

Let’s pause and think about that shall we….

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV)

We should not continue to keep doing things in our own thinking and understanding when we do nothing but fail time and time again in the end. We cannot work in our own strength when we will eventually grow weary in doing so.

The Bible is our manual for life. It should not be pulled out and used like cake for special occasions catering to the quick fix “God I need You real quick, so can I get some help?” type of meal. God isn’t fast food.

Instead, it is our Daily Bread. Jesus is our daily bread. The Word will feed us, nourish us, provide peace, give us joy, hope, comfort, healing, understanding and correction along the way. To have righteous living and to be holy we need to align our ways with His. God is love. He is our eternal Word that sustains us through all circumstances.

Who is your Builder? Self or Christ?

Life will bring ups and downs. We cannot avoid them. What can take place is an unsurpassable peace residing within us that Christ himself provides. We will not become consumed with doubt and fear or filled with anxiety if we are standing on the Solid Foundation that keeps us from falling or sinking.

May we look to God at all times rather than when it accommodates us.

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. (Psalms 121:1-3 NKJV)

Our Lord will not fail us. He can not error. His building codes have been tested and founded to be true and stamped with approval.

Who wouldn’t want a lifetime guarantee?

God Knew Me: The Before, After & In Between of Abortion

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..."(Jeremiah 1:5)

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”(Jeremiah 1:5)

Lord, I thank You for my life and that of all of the children I given birth to. I even thank you for the life created in me that did not survive. Every thing has its purpose and its time. May my lesson in life, loss and hope be of treasure to one if not more for Your Word does not go out void.

*The above picture is of one of my Bibles, my oldest daughter Divine Hope’s umbilical cord clip, one of her first pair of socks and her first pair of church shoes! This young lady is 17 years of age soon to graduate from high school and then off to college. I thank the Lord for her always.

(sigh) While I know abortion is a very sensitive and touchy subject I am willing to share my story, my pain and my healing. I pray for the hearts, minds and bodies of all women who have endured various types of abortions. Please know that I am not here to condemn one soul but to inspire and encourage. I am not God nor am I a medical advisor. What I am is a living and breathing testimony to the love of the One who saved me through my sins, my past and my pain. No one can lead us and guide us into doing what is right except He Who is the Giver of Life. PRAYER CHANGES EVERYTHING

The Holy Bible tells us that God knew us before we were born. He knew us before we were even conceived.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you. (Psalms 139: 13-18)

With teary eyes and a heart that still aches from time to time over the life I never got fully embrace, I am being obedient to the Lord to share with you my loss and my hope. About a month ago this subject was placed on my heart and I began to write but could not finish. I barely got through it without crying. Though the Father has blessed my husband and I many times over with a womb to carry and deliver and raise up 5 children, I still remember the baby I lost. I was in my 1 trimester. Now though in the medical world, it’s not considered a baby at that point it is still a life being formed. I am not going to attempt to try to break down the gestation so bear with me. My point is to say that LIFE is growing and developing inside the womb NO MATTER what it (baby) looks like.

As I was saying before, I miscarried (spontaneous abortion). My baby was not to be seen ever again. While not trying to be too graphic as the reminder still sits fresh with me I thought I was having a bad monthly period until I seen an unusually large clot fall into the toilet. Being that I was a young woman in my early 20’s and still maturing mentally and physically something in my heart didn’t feel right. A part of me wanted to scoop what dispersed out of my body into a bag before calling my husband into the bathroom to tell him that something was wrong with me. I thank God for Tim and his profession. He is a RN so I am always asking questions to this day. Anyway, I got myself together and off I went to see a doctor just to find out that I was actually pregnant but was miscarrying at that time.

That was one of the saddest days of my life. I cried, I wept and I mourned for the longest. Only God knew why my pregnancy did not continue. Maybe my baby was sick. I really don’t know. The only thing I was assured of was that God was in control and I trusted Him through it all. I was so grateful and thankful that I had my husband by my side to comfort and console me as I did him. I remember us going home, getting down on our knees and praying.

Gosh this is so hard to tell and relive all over again. “Father God I am truly trusting you as I open up my life once more to a bunch of folk I do not even know because  as You already know, I do not talk about this with anyone or share it unless I really have to and it’s usually only a doctor when I am doing medical history type of stuff. I pray Your will be done in my obedience because it’s really not about me. It’s about You. I lay my tears before the throne and cast my cares and concerns at Your feet. Touch the woman, the young girl who has miscarried or had chosen to abort her baby for whatever reason. Let them know that You love them no matter what. Lord provide a ram in the bush for the one considering the pill or the clinic to rid their body of the life You knew; the life that was created for Your glory. God You are the giver and taker of life. Not us. You knew us all by name and we are alive to see it. The unformed child and the one growing deserves a chance at life, a chance to make a difference in this world. We do not know the plans You set in place for the unborn. I ask that someone or some thing comes into the path of the brokenhearted ,misguided and blinded. I bind up the lies the enemy plans and carries out. Let the weary soul be set free to do what’s right. May the mind be placed in rest and in peace when they choose to seek You before carrying out such a tragic procedure that could cost them their life just as well as the unborn child that will have a heartbeat soon to stop. May Your light shine, Your love fill up and Your arms cover and shelter the mother-to-be as she makes one of the biggest decisions of her life. Once the human life is gone, there’s no turning back. The only thing left is a bunch of pain and memories even if they are suppressed. Lord, I seek Your face on behalf of hurting. I pray that they turn not to the human first for guidance but to You because I know that You can not and will not steer us wrong. In the mighty Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.”

I had to say a prayer in the middle of this post. I refuse to allow the enemy to deter me from speaking up and speaking out. Ok I suppose I can get back to ending my personal story and ending it with a word of encouragement. This is my hope.

Needless to say, God brought healing and filled my womb once again with love that spilled over into life after my loss in due time. He is my Rock, my Shelter, Great Physician, Healer, Deliverer, Redeemer and Love. What He has done for me, I know that  He can do for you too. I believe it because I am a witness to all He’s brought me through. Now your story may be worse than mine especially if you have had an abortion by choice. God forgives you. His love does not change like the wind. He is Divine. Do not allow the world and the ways of it to deceive you into doing something that is wrong. Indeed it is a sin to kill and it is one of  God’s commandments. (Exodus 20 verse 13 Thou shalt not kill.)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalms 127:3

I do not condemn you for your past or your choices for we all have sinned in one way or another. 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:3-4

I am not your judge and I will not judge. Only God who reigns above brings judgement. He is THEE JUDGE. I am called to love you like Christ. This is the One  who gave up His life on the cross for all of our sins past and present. So even if the love of the world does not show it like it should, He is the One who does not love like the world. Is does not sway and it does not change. It is unconditional.

I do pray that those who are believers and followers of Christ Jesus strive each and every day to show His love to all just as He has shown to us. May mercy and some grace be given and shown to those who have done wrong in the sight of the Lord because He is mighty and able to save and deliver just as He has done already for so many of us.

To God be the glory forevermore. Amen.

Be encouraged, strengthened renewed. Seek the Lord today and allow Him to order your steps….

Love and Blessings in Christ the Savior,

Optimism vs Pessimism : With God, All Things Are Possible

20121230-203645.jpg

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27 KJV)

While I physically feel like it will take me forever to type out this post, I am adamant to get it done. Whenever I am facing a hardship ( usually ) and I feel that tugging on my heart and conscience to carry out something for The Lord, I tend to think about the scroll story Jeremiah and Baruch had to dictate and write in the book of Jeremiah chapter 36. The fact that he had to rewrite by hand a message from The Lord after the first one was burned up took great effort mentally and physically. Obedience plays a major factor. Its repercussions can result in good or bad reaping and sowing on the life of others as well as yourself. In today’s day and age we have computers and touch screens as well as voice recognition to help us dictate our writings. So though my hands are throbbing like crazy, I have no excuse as to why I cannot go forward.

On to the message.

For some days now, the topic dealing with being optimistic vs pessimistic has been heavily on my mind. I have had a full plate mentally as I have had to make choices as sorrow and tears have come over me. The enemy surely will ride your back when it comes to having to do what’s right, speak what’s right and do what’s right. Doubt kicks in and attempts to take over.

What a conniving liar he is. Spiritual battles are not easy but rest assured they are easier to get through when we wait patiently on The Lord and lean not to our own understanding and thoughts of how we feel things should go. The process may seem long and full of sorrow and suffering but I am here to tell you that the storm shall soon pass. Just hold on!

Like a maze that knowingly puts you at multiple dead ends, it’s easy to give up and call it quits. All you see is NO WAY OUT. You will think and speak negatively.

Do you realize that you are speaking this into the atmosphere?

On the other hand, allowing yourself to stop and think with an open and clear mind, possibilities are endless. Especially when you seek help from God. There’s no way you will be stuck forever if you rely on Him for help.

If we trust God, then why not look UP and believe that He will make a way out of what may seem to be no way.

Speaking truth and promises of The Lord into the atmosphere is what we should be doing no matter how long it takes. This is when our faith needs to be kicking down doubt and standing fast to what we believe.

Obstacles come and go. Some hurdles may be higher than others but allow perseverance to keep you moving especially when you know that God is able to do exceedingly more than what we imagine He can.

I grew up around people with negative attitudes. It felt like it was 24/7. At a young age, I seen that having that type of mindset was not how I wanted to live. Yes, television can give you false hope and perception of having a perfect life and all as a kid , but I must say that I had this inner burning desire to come up out of the mental pit that tried to consume me.

Always staring out of the window or dreaming of how I wanted my life to be gave me hope even before I gave my life to The Lord. I use to talk to God at night or when I was alone asking and begging Him to help me. I felt lost, alone and hopeless at times yet I found myself picking myself up and finding reasons to smile because I just knew that one day…. ONE DAY my prayers were going to be answered!

Despite the influence that was around me, despite what looked like “it’s never going to happen” I chose to believe in the unseen.

Like so much of the horrible things that this life seems to bring, I can always keep an optimistic attitude that one day there will be no more sorrow, no more pain, no more tears and no more hatred because God said so.

I believe in Him and I believe what He says! He’s not a liar and He can not go back on His word.

So while I may still ask myself time to time why do I smile so much or why do I choose to have an optimistic attitude about life even when my natural eye sees the worse, its because God placed this attribute; this characteristic way of thinking inside of me for a reason even before I ever came to know Him better than I have so many years ago. I’m still a work in progress but my hope for myself and for you will not stop because I’m a believer!

God has blessed me and favored me many times over. He has seen past my faults and negative thinking and saw the best in me. He knows my potential and what I am capable of doing. He knows this for you too!

So why not decide today to take a leap of faith and a mindset to start thinking positively for yourself and for the future? What do you have to lose?!!

Troubles of this world will not end until God brings it all to a halt. Why wait to have optimism later on when you can have it today. God’s word ( Holy Bible) is full of promises and instructions. It’s full of hope for the poor, the weak, the broken hearted, the ailing, the widow, the hopeless and weary in soul. We have been given direction and a peace of mind we can take hold on to. He gave us Jesus Christ, He has given us a Comforter. The Holy Spirit.

Dear Reader, I encourage you to not grow faint and weary. Do not give up. God will show up right on time. His timing is better than any. Patience will take you a long way. The growing process and the knowledge it brings can only bring forth great gain for it can help someone else down the road. God can turn trials to triumphs, losses to victories, tears of sorrow to tears of joy, mourning to rejoicing and negative thinking to positive ones if we take hope and cling to it in Him.

Voluntarily place yourself on the Potter’s Wheel and ask to be made over, refined and made whole with a better sense of thinking, understanding and patience as you count it all joy for His glory and the betterment of yourself as His child and as a living example to the many blessings and miracles that He has done in your life when the world sees no hope.

Hope. Trust. Believe.

O Lord , you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord , you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me! They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain! Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord ? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies. Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! (Psalms 139:1-24 ESV)

Come Lord Jesus!

*I am reposting this from my other blog site Wellspring At His Feet . Enjoy and be blessed.

Come Lord Jesus for we are in desperate need of a Savior. We are in need of direction that is holy and righteous. With You as our Great Shepard our lives will be filled in the fullness of Your presence and with an abundance of teachings, love, knowledge and wisdom. Patience, humbleness, kindness, mercy are ours to gain when we come sit before You.

Sheep needing Shepard

Sheep looking for their Shepard

Teach us how to love one another with sincerity, to treat one another with respect and not with judgement of our words and actions. Who are we to judge? Who are we to cast stones without first looking at the speck in our own eye?

My Lord, these words You have spoken have fallen onto fertile ground before so I pray it does again:

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. (Matthew 7:1-5 NKJV)

There is never a time that will pass upon this earth that we will not hear of heinous crimes and activity, idolatry, sexual immorality, evil corruption, and even disastrous weather events.

Those who deny Father God deny You, Jesus, for nothing we ask of/for can be made possible without Your intercession on our behalf. They call upon this “heavenly and sovereign source” above crying and pleading for help when fear and sorrow meets them at their door.

“God help us! Save us! Why would you allow such terrible things to take place?” These are pleads, cries and questions that want comfort and healing but all things will not be understood or answered. Since the fall of man this world is a sinful playground to all who will partake of it.

I pray that this nation, all nations wake up and realize that we cannot call upon a “part-time, as needed God” Who beckons at our every whim. We need You! Our lives are nothing without You in it.

Many innocent lives are taken each day because evil resides. Hearts and minds are flooded with great sorrow as loved ones leave this world in some form.

We need to have respect for all mankind, empathy and understanding for the broken in spirit. We need LOVE.

Sin permeates the grounds we walk upon and saturates the mind, body and soul of the wicked BUT……..

O’ praise the One Who paid our debt, shed His blood and died for us that we would be pardoned and set free! King Jesus! King Jesus! King Jesus!

No longer are we who are saved by salvation bound by sin! We are free! No longer are we condemned by our past sins. Mercy and grace have clothed us. How gracious and selfless! It was LOVE that made a way. It was LOVE that opened our eyes and ears!

Thank You Christ Jesus!

Dear people of the world reading this open letter right now, I speak to you out of love and concern in urgency that we wake up. Let us wake up and take heed to The Word of God. In a time of uncertainty it’s time to draw near to The Lord. It’s time to call upon the Great Name that’s above every name and asked to be reconciled back to Him before we leave this earth or before His return.

We know not the day or hour of His coming or that of when our time expires. We are not God nor should we attempt to play God. He is the giver and taker of life. Lack of wisdom, truth and respect continues to destroy us as a people.

A lack of Jesus in our lives leaves us in an utter state of destruction. This is a spiritual battle we are up against. Only God can lead us to victory.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV)

Children of God, put on your armor. (read Ephesians 6:10-18) For those who have yet to become believers and followers, seek The Lord while He may be found. Repent and receive salvation today and when you do so with a contrite heart the angels in heaven will rejoice! Your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ will rejoice with you!

So let us come before The Lord with a humble and open heart to receive all that we can. He is our portion, our Daily Bread and our Fountain of Life.

Come…….

Let the Word go deep down covering you in the truth of God’s holy word. Allow it to manifest in your heart that it may radiate and affect those you encounter.

The River of Life

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

The Time is Near

Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

Jesus Testifies to the Churches

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

A Warning

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I Am Coming Quickly

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

(Revelation 22:1-21 NKJV)

Feeding the Multitude

THIS COULD BE ANY ONE OF US……………….. NEVER SAY NEVER.

Typically this is not like me to write a random post without the leading of the Holy Spirit but then again, this could be such doing and my emotions and compassion for the lost, broken, and hungry have stepped forward in a bold moment. This message in regards to Feeding the Multitude applies to those who need physical nourishment as well as spiritual. We are called to go out and tend to them. The widows, the orphans, the sick and all. Believe me when I say that I am speaking to myself as well as you because we all need to pitch in and help. We are instructed to do this in an act of obedience and love.

The Outworking of Love

“By this we know love, because He laid down his life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” ( 1John 3:16-18 NKJV )

I could easily throw up a Thanksgiving Day picture fully decorated with all the delighful looking food and happy people, but I choose not to. The foundation of this celebration is about giving thanks to the Lord for all that He has done, bringing people together in fellowship and enjoying a meal. At least that is what I think it is. This is what I have learnt over the years as an adult. I didn’t grow up knowing that I was to give thanks unto the Lord and being grateful for my family and friends. It was just food cooked out of TRADITION. We ate and went our way year after year in my eyes and opinion. I am not, in no way throwing my parents under the bus so to speak. Maybe they didn’t know any better, but it wasn’t until I married that I learned the true meaning. It took some getting used to. ( and I still have a hard time getting in the swing of festivities believe it or not for that very reason ) Ok. Enough digressing. Back to getting on track with what I was saying.

Jesus is calling us out to go boldly in His name to preach the Gospel to the world and to take care of those in need. This place we live in isn’t getting any better and more lives are being lost daily. People are becoming more and more selfish by the minute. Where is the love? Where is the compassion? Do you really think it is good enough to look at the television or newspaper, the man standing on the corner, reading the “junk mail” that asks you to consider sponsoring a needy child over in another country, to drive past a food bank or shelter and say “Lord bless their hearts and provide for them” and so forth? NO. It’s not good enough.

Many of us can honestly say that we are blessed enough financially that we have a roof over our heads, a job, clothing on our back, good health, a good and sound mind to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, but how about the ones who can’t. Do we just rely on the state to take care of them? How about the volunteers willing to give their time willingly to help those who have less than? The answer should be NO. Who is looking out for their spiritual health at the same time? I am sure that some of them are richly blessed in spirit more so than some of us. They may not have a dime in their pocket but their hearts are rich in faith. That is something to think about.

I am not trying to convict anyone at all and if I have offended you, please forgive me, but realize that any given day your life could go from being on top to hitting rock bottom. Then what?? You will be that very same person that the world turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to. We reap what we sow. Now it’s up to you what you can give whether it’s financially or spiritually but being a bench warmer isn’t going to get it. It’s time to get proactive. Not just during the holiday seasons but during every day life.

This painful post is because I was sitting down eating dinner and my eyes began to well up with tears because of a story I read. A man lost everything and is now living under a bridge. Wife left him, he’s without a job and a home. But he was thankful for whatever food the shelter/ sponsoring businesses that rallied together to feed and clothe the homeless supplied. What caught my attention more than anything was that despite his situation, he was willing to share the Gospel with anyone willing to listen to him. In the mean time, he is holding on looking for that day to come when he can get back on his feet.

That’s HOPE.

Prayerfully, I want the Lord to direct my footsteps in the direction He wants me to go to in ministering to the lost. I can say that I know that I know that I KNOW that He is preparing me for something greater in my ministry. It’s all about Christ. Living who I strive to be in Him and taking care of those less fortunate however it may be. To God be the glory. May I be stripped of anything that is not pleasing to Him so that I may live a righteous life through him and be an example to those living in darkness.

Dear friends, I am not asking you to do a thing except pray and ask the Lord to direct your thoughts and footsteps. Think for a minute if you would and try to imagine yourself in the shoes of a sinner without repentance and salvation as well as the homeless person without. You can think back to the lost sinner you once were before Christ came into your life? Can you just imagine how you could live if you didn’t have the basic needs?

This is just Food for Thought.

May the God is Who is able to do all things but fail bless you and keep you always………
