Pour Out and Anoint This Broken Vessel

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. (2 Corinthians 4:7 NIV)

Days can grow long and weary being a follower of Christ Jesus, but the reward of obedience is worth the sacrifice. This will not always be an easy task. Some days it feels as if the walls are crushing in with no air to take in…….. yet we press through.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:8, 9 NIV)

To the feet of Jesus I take a seat and allow him to feed my soul as I rest in his presence. My heart desires to fulfill the calling the Father spoke over me and in me to do. There is nothing I say or do righteously that is of my own thoughts or will but that of His. I’m just a broken vessel wanting to be used so that I may glorify His name and draw many to The One who is able to save and set free just as he has done for me.

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:1-6 NIV)

May we all remember that this ministry we take on is not about us, but about Jesus. May we boast not of anything we do in His name. It is the Holy Spirit who resides in each of us ; he inspires us to write, talk and teach the Word. Think not highly of yourself and of your “genius” ideas. We have been blessed with these gifts from the Lord to use accordingly. All glory and praise is for Him.

I exhort you to keep pressing forward dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. This journey is long and will not end until we are called home. Yet still the Word of God will not go out void. Seeds have been planted and the harvest will be plenty in due season whether you are present to see the fruit of your labor.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9 NKJV)

  1. Amen. Thank you, Terra, for this.

Lord, fill us! You are the Word. Live in us, so that our thoughts, words and deeds flow out of you and reveal you and ARE you! We want more of your Holy Spirit! That is what carries us through! You are our Sustainer, our Provision and our ever-present help. Be high and lifted up in and through us. Mold us into your image, so that ALL can see YOU!! In your holy and precious name, Jesus – Amen.

    • Amen! That comes with a Hallelujah too! I was blowing drying my hair and seen your message and I was singing this song about pouring of the Spirit. Gosh I need to look up the song now! “I’m just a broken vessel wanting to be used so that I may glorify His name and draw many to The One who is able to save and set free just as he has done for me.”

That was a great thought, could not agree more.

    Blessings
